Safety Labels: British Pipe Marking Standards

Written by Steve Hudgik

Color coding helps to identify the danger levels of pipes and valves

The British Standard BS 1710 outlines how pipes, conduits, and ducts must be labeled so that they are easily identifiable.

The Health and Safety Regulations for Safety Signs & Signals require visible pipes that contain or transport dangerous substances be labeled. Using col our to identify the contents of pipes, conduits, and ducts should follow the British Standard BS 1710. Standardization of pipe marking will avoid possible confusion, injury, and other hazardous incidents.
