Get Ready For A More Aggressive OSHA

The Obama administration's "new OSHA" has a simple message for U.S. industry. This message has been delivered loudly and clearly by both Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and Acting Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health Jordan Barab. Their message: "There is a new sheriff in town." And we all know what sheriffs do. They aggressively enforce the law. That is exactly what the new Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) intends to do.

They should be more aggressive. Employers tend to do whatever is cheaper, if no one is watching.
If companies could take the lead in regulating themselves better, there would be many more safer work environments.
Thank you so much for informing people about how important it is to have a safety management system in the companies we work for. Lots of accidents can happen within the working area and this can result to hospitalization of a person or even death. Not a lot of people understand that, but if they read your blog, it is sure to open the minds of people. Thanks for sharing this.
I agree with Joe on that one. The current economic crisis has made many companies make decisions based on lowering their budgets and as a result workplace safety has been compromised.

Well that explains that new fine against BP for $85 million. Lets hope aggressive does not equate into greedy.
naw, it's not about being greedy. it's about finding ways to extract money to pay for the government take over of the economy -- i mean to run health care and save us from "global warming." ha ha ha!.
